College Gate

Kamakhya Ram Barooah Girls' college, situated at M. B. Road, Fatashil, Guwahati was established on 14th April, 1971 with the objective of advancement of women education in the western part of Guwahati. The people of this western part of Guwahati long felt the need of such an institution in this area. Accordingly initiative had been taken by some prominent citizen of the locality. The plot of land was obtained from the Govt. of Assam and the fund for the construction of the main college buildind and for the development of the college was donated by Late Pabir Ram Barooah, the worthy son of ,Late, Kamakhya Ram Barooah,a renowned advocate, social worker, philanthropist and a pioneer of women education in Assam. The foundation stone was laid by Late Mohendra Mohan choudhury, the then chief Minister of Assam. since then the college is striving for the enlightenment, progress and all round development, of the young women student of the locality. The college has so far produced a number of well established professionals in various fields.


The college is situated on the M.B Road, Fatashil in the midst of din and bustle of Guwahati city.


The college is registered under section 2(F) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act. 1956. Vide letter No. F8-43/98 (CPP-I) 10 th june, 1999. Hereby, the college has earned the eligibility to receive financial assistance from the UGC.


The K.R.B. Girls' college is permanently affiliated to Gauhati University from 1997-98 vide Executive council Resolution NO. 99/4/57 (12) dt. 13.2.99.
